I am Jean Carlo Benites Porras, a full-stack developer in Lima, Peru. I started in 2021 building websites, and since 2022 I have worked at Plus Technology Solutions, where I am now the main developer of a regulated B2B SaaS platform.

Outside that job I build CLX, an esports tournament platform I founded and own with two partners, and I open-source the parts other people can use.

How I work

  • I measure first. The chart that went from 14.6 s to 0.74 s started with a measurement in production.
  • I change large systems in steps. Every version jump reached production without stopping the service.
  • I write down decisions. The frontend rewrite has its decision records, and every repo I publish says in its README what is tested and on which setup.
  • I work with coding agents, with tests and reviews as the filter.
